Ron Paul Woos Young Voters

January 5, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Ron Paul’s bid for president took a surprising twist this morning. Though he is campaigning in New Hampshire, he’s no longer focusing on the upcoming primary.

Paul spent several hours at the Chamberlain Primary School trying to bring students over to his ideas of libertarianism or minimal government. “Children are our future,” Paul said, “and these youngsters will be able to vote in the 2016 election when I might actually have a chance.

Students seemed to respond to Paul’s message. Sammy Proctor said, “I thought he was funny, but he didn’t bring us any treats. Most people bring treats.” Kelly Simmi was equally impressed. “He reminded me of my grandpa because he kept talking about how bad the government is,” she said.

The second grade class was not quite as moved by his message. Nick Santos said, “I like coloring.” While Kelly Torrence said, “I have to go to the bathroom.” And Miller Vitor said, “He’s not going to recess with us is he?”

“His focus on elementary school children could really pay dividends in 2016,” said Mary Marin, political strategist with The Right Institute. She cautioned, however, that by election time Paul will be 80 years old and he may have a hard time fighting the “saggy” factor or even remembering that he’s running for president.

Paul suggested that his 2016 running mate is likely to be Ben Matlock or Walker Texas Ranger.

When Rudy Giuliani was asked for a comment he said, “9-11. 9-11. Remember 9-11? I was mayor on 9-11.”
